Bloomberg: Libya’s future depends on the fighting for Sirte

American newspaper Bloomberg said in a report titled “Libya’s future depends on proxy war in Gaddafi’s hometown,” opening an extensive panoramic investigation on the developments of the current Libyan crisis, pointing to a military crisis between Russia and Turkey, and describing the city of Sirte as the gateway to Africa’s largest oil reserves.

The report pointed to the Russian and Arab regional support for the army in exchange for the Turkish intervention in favor of the Government of National Accord, describing the Turkish army as the second largest army in NATO, and warning that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi warned that if the Sirte red line was crossed, this might lead to a possible intervention in Libya.

The report questioned the army’s ability to maintain the city of Sirte and the line it drew south to Jufra, which explains the tendency of the General Command to push towards a political settlement, indicating that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry agreed that a military solution is not an option in the country.

Bloomberg’s report expected that the battle for Sirte would be decisive in the event of an outbreak for the oil industry, as the city was opened to the Middle and East oil Regions, where a large part of the country’s one million barrels per day production was shipped to global markets, as Libya now produces only 90.000 barrels per day.
