Egypt executes Libyan terrorist Abdel Rahim Al-Mismari

Egypt has carried out the death sentence against the Libyan terrorist Abdel Rahim Al-Mismari – the mastermind of the Al-Wahat attack – according to Egyptian state television. This happened some 8 months after Egypt’s criminal court referred Al-Mismari’s case to the mufti for permission of execution.

In November 2019, the Egyptian judiciary issued a death sentence against Al-Mismari and a life imprisonment for 5 other people involved in the terrorist attack that targeted a military ambush in Al-Wahat region on October 20, 2017, which killed 16 Egyptian security forces and wounded 13 others.

Egyptian investigations revealed that Al-Mismari, who was arrested on October 28, 2017, received training on how to use heavy weapons and manufacture explosives inside ISIS camps in Libya. The one who supervised his prominent Egyptian terrorist training was Imad Al-Deen Ahmed, before he infiltrated from Libya to Egypt to carry out the terrorist attack.

Egypt has charged Al-Mismari with a list of accusations, including intentional killing and attempting to carry out intentional killing in execution and unauthorized possession of firearms as well as ammunition, let alone joining a terrorist organization as well as a group that was established in contravention of the provisions of law and the constitution. This is coupled with charges of attacking security, disturbing public order and endangering the safety of society.
