Turkish official: Our policy in Libya protects our interests in the region

The former Turkish Prime Minister, Chairman of the Turkish Future Party, Ahmet Davutoglu, expressed his full support for his country’s policy towards the crisis in Libya and its support for the Government of National Accord, in addition to its measures in the Mediterranean.

Ahmet Davutoglu said in a video posted on his official account on Twitter that Ankara should continue to follow its current strategy firmly in Libya and the eastern Mediterranean, in order to be able to preserve its interests in the region.

Davutoglu pointed out that “projects that exclude Turkey from the eastern Mediterranean are illegal and inapplicable,” adding that “any energy or security equation that excludes Turkey is doomed to failure,” according to his description.

The former Turkish Prime Minister considered that the support provided by his country’s government to the GNA and the military advances that Turkey has made in Libya are a step in the right direction, whether on the political or strategic level.
