Al-Mismari speaks about future of Russian arms’ deals with Libyan National Army

The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, pointed out the possibility of integrating armaments for the Libyan army – in the future – between the eastern and western camps, referring the reason for the national army’s interest in the Russian-made weapon to the experience of the leaders of the Libyan army.

Al-Mismari said in a statement to the Russian news agency Sputnik: “Our interest in Russian weapons is because we graduated from the Russian military school,” adding: “I cannot answer the question of cooperation with Russia in the future after the embargo is lifted because it is a question that needs a future strategic plan, and it needs to adopt the restructuring of the Libyan army again.

“We will see in the future whether the army depends on the eastern weapon or the western weapon, after which the orientation or confusion between the western and eastern weapons, such as Egypt, will be directed or mixed.” The spokesman of the LNA said.

In his statement to Sputnik, Al-Mismari criticized the international community’s position on the issue of the arms embargo, noting that the parliament is dealing with the issue.
