Haftar is looking for international assurances for fair distribution of oil in Libya

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper quoted well-informed sources as saying that the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, is seeking international guarantees regarding the fair distribution of oil revenues.

The same sources revealed that the international and regional efforts did not reach any final ceasefire agreement and real guarantees for its respect, in light of what it described as the “military ambition” of the GNA forces that are trying to enhance their presence in the vicinity of the city of Sirte, which is controlled by the national army.

The movement of the Libyan cities and tribes announced the reopening of oil fields, confirming in a statement, Monday, from Zueitina the authorization of the General Command of the National Army to communicate with the United Nations and the international community to find solutions to the non-occurrence of oil revenues in the hands of terrorist militias.

After reading the statement, a number of elders and notables confirmed to 218News that the move came in response to the many calls due to their keenness on the capabilities of the Libyans, and not to tampering with them by the GNA that harnessed oil revenues to support terrorist groups and mercenaries, they said.
