Reports about a maritime agreement between Libyan HoR and Greece

After the maritime agreement that Turkey signed with the GNA on the 28th of last November, Greece vehemently objected, and began to face what it says is the Turkish tide that started with the game of individual muscle in the waters of the Mediterranean.

Greece’s moves began to cut ties with the reconciliation government and open the horizon of a negotiating dialogue with the party of the parliament and the Libyan government.

Efforts culminated in the visit of Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to Benghazi, in which he expressed his rejection of the accord agreement with Turkey.

Nikos Dendias visited Benghazi again on the morning of the first Wednesday of July, and he met both Speaker of the House of Representatives Aqila Saleh and the Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel-Hadi Al-Hawij.

Media of the House of Representatives announced that the visit discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in a way that serves the interests of the “two friendly peoples” as the meeting dealt with the possibility of opening a Greek consulate in Benghazi to enhance trade exchange between the two countries.

As for the unannounced news, it indicated that the two parties discussed the possibility of demarcating the maritime borders, in order to cut the road on Turkey’s eastern Mediterranean interventions, which provoked many countries headed by Greece, then Italy, and even France.

The news that came after the meeting of Aqia in Dindias indicated that there is a maritime agreement to demarcate the borders and will be approved by the Libyan parliament and the Greek parliament as legislative bodies in the two countries.

This matter, if it really happened, would increase the level of polarization and reduce the horizon of a peaceful solution, as it would make the clashes more clear.

Greece had opened a path with Cairo to reach a similar result, and today it is seeking to conclude an agreement with Libya, all of this in order to cut the road to Erdogan’s continued attempts to raise Saif Antara and challenge all international resolutions and strike his relations with various regional countries.
