France says won’t leave security of the Mediterranean for Turkey

The French President Emmanuel Macron considered that leaving the security of the eastern Mediterranean in the hands of other parties, especially Turkey, is considered a grave danger, calling for imposing sanctions on the parties that intervene in Libya in order to reach a ceasefire and then a political solution.

Macron urged the European Union to respond to the provocations in the eastern Mediterranean, calling for more sanctions against violators of the Greek and Cypriot maritime space.

He added, “The issue is related to a struggle for influence, especially on the part of Turkey and Russia, which confirm their presence more and more. Thus, the European Union has not yet done anything.”

The French President stressed that his country will not allow the security of the Mediterranean region to be left in the hands of other parties, noting that this issue is not an option for Europe.
