Will Turkey send F-16 fighters to boss Libyan airspace?

The Eurasia Daily newspaper reported a possible Turkish military move in the airspace of Libya, saying “Turkey is sending its F-16 multi-role fighters to Libya to maintain air superiority there.”

The report, citing statements by Turkish political writer Hassan Basri Yalcin, indicates that Ankara may have to escalate its military role in Libya’s airspace to “block the road” for Cairo, which will rely on its air force to support the Libyan national army, according to the report.

Turkey has long emerged with its air power in Libya, through which it has changed the balance of power on the ground, and this forces Ankara to risk the deployment of F-16s to defend the gains it has made in Libya, according to Eurasia Daily.

The writer said that “if Turkey wants the scenario of Russian air superiority in Syria not to be repeated, it must find solutions to the difficulties and technical risks, and it must show political will as soon as possible.”
