Intervention in Libya escalates accusations between Paris and Ankara

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop, attacked France, accusing it of interfering in Libya in a manner that contravenes international law.

He said that France criticized the Turkish intervention in Libya, which came at the request of a government recognized by the United Nations, at a time when Paris was “ashamed” of revealing its operations in support of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar in Libya.

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament added that “countries that are illegally present in Libya have no right to talk about the compatibility of Turkey’s presence in Libya with international laws.”

He said: “France is the last country in the world entitled to speak about human rights, law, justice and injustice, and the last two centuries of its history show that it is impossible to erase its darkness.”
