Al-Monitor published a report on the intervention of US President Donald Trump’s administration with “360-degree” diplomacy to help end the Libyan war.

Al-Monitor says that the American initiative came at a good time, as it coincided with signs of a possible escalation of fighting between the GNA forces and the National Army, and that Libya gradually turned into the most dangerous proxy war in the world, and the zero point in a regional battle between Cairo and Ankara, its effects extending to the eastern Mediterranean. And the borders of Turkey.

Cairo expanded the zone of tension with Ankara to the borders of Turkey after it signed a maritime agreement with Greece this week that defines an exclusive economic zone for oil and gas exploration rights, in response to Turkish provocations in Libya and the eastern Mediterranean.

On the Russian position and his role as an external player in moving the threads of the Libyan crisis, the newspaper pointed out that President Vladimir Putin was able to reserve a place for him as a main party in any “potential deal”, but he became concerned about the behavior of the General Commander of the National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, which prompted him to open the door to Searching for another personality that links him to the Libyan arena.

Al-Monitor indicated that the Trump administration is in a good position to push the main actors in Libya toward de-escalation, as Trump has good relations with all the main external players in Libya.
