Erdogan calls for resolving Eastern Mediterranean crisis via dialogue

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on all parties concerned with the eastern Mediterranean crisis to engage in dialogue based on the principle of “no winner, no loser”, to ensure that an agreement is reached in a formula that satisfies all parties.

Erdogan indicated that the exploration operations that Turkey started in the eastern Mediterranean are proceeding in accordance with international law and in line with the memorandum signed with the Government of National Accord.

The Turkish president stressed, during an expanded meeting with the heads of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) branches in the capital, Ankara, that they do not seek to provoke tension and show that they are always able to protect their rights in the region.

Erdogan said that Greece’s position in the “Mediterranean and Aegean” is based on bad faith and its claim to the continental shelf based on the island of “Meis” is illogical, warning Greece and Cyprus against ignoring their rights in the region.
