France, US see eye to eye on Libyan conflict

The French President Emmanuel Macron revealed his views on Libya and the Eastern Mediterranean issue with US President Donald Trump.

The French President tweeted after tripartite telephone discussions, saying that the two parties have a common interest in peace and security, indicating that they intend to work to ensure that it is respected.

France entered the eastern Mediterranean crisis line after the escalation of tension between Athens and Ankara rapidly, as Paris announced that it would deploy two Rafale fighter planes and a frigate in the eastern Mediterranean as part of a plan to support its military presence.

Macron previously expressed his country’s concern about the unilateral exploration operations carried out by Ankara, announcing that France would strengthen its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean in order to monitor the situation in the region and show its determination to abide by international law.
