Bashagha, Al-Sarraj and Al-Mishri: Survival for the fittest

Speculations received by 218News revealed that the ministerial reshuffle in the Government of National Accord, which the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, intends to take to defuse the angry popular protests due to the deterioration of services and living conditions, will not include Fathi Bashagha, the Minister of Interior.

A source close to the decision-making centers in Tripoli stated that Al-Sarraj and his advisors are heading to dismiss the Undersecretary-General of the Ministry of Health in the Government of National Accord, Muhammad Haitham Issa, and to dismiss the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer, from his position as head of the Anti-Money Laundering Committee.

On the other hand, it was reported that “218News” reached the Head of the High Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri, who held a meeting at Dabaiba’s house in Misrata, to arrange the “post-Sarraj” phase, and after the latter learned of the meeting, he tended to open up more about Bashagha, whose relationship with him was going through some apathy.

The information received indicated that Turkey, which strongly supports Bashagha, interfered and played a role in smoothing out the atmosphere between Sarraj and Bashagha.

There is a possibility that all these measures are overdue under unprecedented public pressure, as the past two days have witnessed popular protests in Tripoli and other cities, calling for the fall of the parliament and the Government of National Accord for their failure to solve the services crises, especially electricity and liquidity.
