Difference between August 23 popular movement and political Volcano of Rage movement

The difference between the August 23 movement and the “volcano of rage” I like the distance between heaven and earth, in terms of goals, slogans, and motives.

The August 23 movement is a spontaneous, youthful civil movement raising service slogans calling for better living conditions in terms of security, electricity, water, gasoline and gas.

The protesters’ movement was met with intimidation, betrayal and arrest by the militants affiliated with the Government of National Accord, thinking that by doing so, they will abort the movement and push the youth to hide and retreat, but this endeavor did not succeed and failed miserably.

As for the Burkan Al-Ghadab (Volcano of Rage) demonstrators, they are a group associated with fighters who participated in combat operations, while the August 23 Movement was launched by a group called “Himmet Shabab”.

After that, a group affiliated with the Volcano of Rage operation decided to organize themselves to go out to the Martyrs Square and raise their own slogans in order to employ the movement, contain it and integrate into it, while suddenly the third day of demonstrations took place and after the speech of the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj.

The slogans of the Volcano of Rage represented a political trend against the parliament in Tobruk, against the oil shutdown, and against the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and the Libyan National Army, while the slogans of “August 23” do not represent any party and are against all lineups in the east, west and south.

The slogans of the Volcano of Rage did not contain any expressions of suffering nor a statement explaining their demands, while the August 23 movement issued a statement of 11 points and disavowed all affiliations.

The Volcano of Rage demonstrators did not express any demand for elections, which is the demand of the Libyans, unlike the August 23 movement, as the former was protected during the demonstration and none of its demonstrators were arrested, while the August 23 demonstrators were arrested, as well as shot at on two occasions by security forces affiliated with the Government of National Accord that described the movement as riot.

The August 23 Movement demanded an end to the war and death race, and the Volcano of Rage protesters raised political slogans.
