WHO denies to 218News giving financial aid to Libya

The representative of the World Health Organization in Libya, Elizabeth Hoff, denied what was reported recently that WHO has granted millions of dollars in aid to any Libyan party to combat Covid-19 and confirmed to Al-Bilad program on 218News Sunday that the World Health Organization does not provide direct financial support to any institution in Libya.

“The organization is an agency that has specific standards for public health and usually provides technical support and also during emergencies, it bridges gaps in health systems where there are needs,” Hoff explained during the interview.

“We have not provided any money to the Ministry of Health or the National Center for Disease Control, but we are helping with capacity building and training activities for health workers and medical laboratory personnel,” Hoff said, confirming the aid.
