Algeria, Tunisia aim to host dialogue for Libyan warring parties

The Algerian Foreign Minister, Sabri Boukadoum, revealed that his country is seeking with Tunisia to host a dialogue between the Libyan parties, with the participation of Egypt and the countries surrounding southern Libya, as well as Italy, Malta and Greece.

Boukadoum affirmed in his statement his country’s refusal to supply weapons to Libya, calling for commitment to the outcomes of the Berlin Conference, considering that the United Nations decision to ban arms on Libya contributes to avoiding the proxy war that some parties want to fight in Libya.

The Libyan issue was brought up in Istanbul in talks conducted by Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadum with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the last period, in the hope of finding a political settlement to the crisis away from the influence of external parties, especially after the recent agreement between the presidential council and House of Representatives on a ceasefire.
