Members of the European Parliament for the Italian League Party and members of the Fishing Committee called on the European Commission to defend the Italian fishermen detained in Libya, after two fishing boats were confiscated by the Libyan Coast Guard
He called on European members to intervene with regard to EU agreements to define maritime borders, as well as to start a discussion among coastal states.
According to the Italian news agency “Nova”, the members submitted an interrogation to the European Commission, which stipulated that Europe, which invests huge sums in Libya, must intervene and take urgent measures against the detained fishermen, in order to quickly solve the case and put an end to the repeated attacks on Italian fishing boats in those countries.
