Cairo accuses Ankara of destabilizing the region through Libya

The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, stated that Ankara is pursuing expanded policies that undermine security and stability in the region.

Shoukry’s statements came in a television interview with the Egyptian “CBC” channel Sunday during which he commented on the statements of the Turkish President’s advisor, Yasin Aktay, in which he revealed a “Turkish-Egyptian” affinity.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed that his country is monitoring Turkish actions, adding that the policies that Turkey is doing through its presence in Libya, Syria and Iraq, in addition to the existing tension in the eastern Mediterranean, all refer to policies aimed at destabilizing the region.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister had previously warned about what he described as “blatant Turkish practices and interventions” in many Arab countries, stressing that they represent the most important emerging threats to Arab national security.
