Erdogan “resents” Al-Sarraj for his willingness to resign from Libya’s GNA, source tells 218News

A reliable well-informed source told “218News” that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the Head of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, during their meeting on Sunday, of his personal “resentment” over his decision to leave the political scene.

The source said that the Turkish side informed the ministers who accompanied Al-Sarraj on the visit that “the unity of the situation and the lack of contradiction of statements should prevail among all, and that competition must exist in order not to allow any plans to pass to the other party.”

The source pointed out that in the event that a real ceasefire agreement is reached and in order to preserve the fulfillment of the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding for military cooperation, a mechanism will be established that does not contradict international criteria through the continuous provision of technical support, training and disclosure of equipment of a military nature to the UN Monitoring Committee.

The Turkish presidency confirmed, on Sunday, that the Presidential Council could transform into a new structure, noting that “Ankara will continue to work with those elected to head the new Presidential Council.”
