UN Secretary-General: Ceasefire agreement is a major step for peace in Libya

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, welcomed the Libyan parties’ signing of the permanent ceasefire agreement, in Geneva today under the auspices of the United Nations.

Guterres described the agreement as “the essential step towards peace and stability in Libya,” congratulating the two parties on “placing the interest of their nation above their differences.”

Under the agreement, all military units and armed groups on the front lines will return to their camps.
