In this context, the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, on Friday, discussed with the Mayor of “Ghadames”, Qasim Al-Mani, the latest current developments in the Libyan scene, according to the US embassy in Libya.
The two sides discussed, during a phone call, the developments of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum facilitated by the United Nations, which is held at a time when the urgent need for all Libyans to agree on permanent political and security solutions to achieve peace and stability in the country, while choosing this specific time opens questions to the motives of the ambassador’s contact with this municipality, while the number of the country’s municipalities exceeds 90.
After the Us ambassador’s call, the German ambassador to Libya tweeted about a contact he described as “friendly” with the mayor of “Ghadames”, where the ambassador said that “Al Mani” briefed him on the recent developments in “Ghadames”, and indicated that the municipality is a partner in the Local Government Program with a German Municipal Support Program to enhance administrative capabilities and provide services.
German support was provided to the municipalities after the responsible authorities had disavowed themselves, so there is no justification for the countries floating on an oasis of oil in need of aid or donations that might affect the state’s policy and detract from its ownership of its decision, while the mayors of the municipalities did not find a way to deal with foreign embassies to provide for the daily needs of the population after the politicians were preoccupied with the political wrangling and initiatives that circulated around the world, without paying attention to the needs of the people who authorized them in all their affairs.
