218News unveils details of new decisive LPDF round under preparation

Well-informed sources suggested to “218News” that the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum will convene on January 05, 2021, pointing to a new round of dialogue to be arranged by the UN Support Mission (UNSMIL).

It is noteworthy that after the direct meeting, which brought together the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunisia for nine consecutive days; the direct communication between the members, who only communicated virtually, was cut off because of the difficulty of meeting due to the circumstances of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The sources told “218News” Monday that the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum will meet in a new round, early next month, to discuss several points of agreement.

The political dialogue appears today in a state of stalemate after the members reached the point of mechanisms for choosing the members of the Presidency Council, which was reduced to three seats, and the Prime Minister, who will be separated from the Presidency Council, unlike the current form in which the Presidency Council is headed by Fayez Al-Sarraj, who exercises the powers of a Prime Minister as well.

The sources expected the next round would be in Tunisia, saying if it is officially held, it would turn into a fait accompli, decisive, and could produce results by January 07.
