Major countries threaten sanctions against spoilers of Libya’s 5+5 agreement

Major countries which are active in the Libyan file are exerting pressure on those who try to obstruct the implementation of the 5+5 agreements by imposing sanctions, according to what Al-Arab newspaper reported, citing informed sources.

The newspaper added that “implementing the terms of the ceasefire has become certain, and it will open the way for the unification of state institutions,” noting that Ankara agreed to solve the Libyan crisis politically in accordance with the United Nations plan, provided that its economic interests are not compromised.

In a related context, the same sources revealed the moves of the Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord, Fathi Bashagha, towards enhancing his political fortunes and securing his place in the next stage.

“Bashagha is leading negotiations to persuade the Misrata brigades to withdraw from the coastal road without resorting to confrontations”. The report added.
