218News: US military trainers, linked to Operation “Snake Hunt” arrive in Libya

A source revealed to “218News” that a group of US trainers arrived in Libya last week on a special training mission for members of the Ministry of Interior of the “Government of National Accord”, in the technical field of security systems and electronic visas.

The source suggested that the Ministry of Interior’s contract with these US trainers came within the framework of its readiness to launch the “Operation Snake Hunt”, which the Ministry of Interior recently announced.

The Operation is based on five points; the most important of which is dismantling the armed formations classified as outlaw groups, in addition to ending fuelsmuggling, human and drug trafficking.

The source added that the trainers entered the country through Mitiga and Zuwara airports, and another group will follow them, arriving in Libya, during the near future, indicating that the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, asked the General Intelligence Service to facilitate the work of the trainers, and to grant them special permits and to move in cars bearing Libyan license plates, however; the Head of the Intelligence Agency, Emad Trabelsi, did not respond to this request due to his presence at the present time in Turkey.

Bashagha’s request faces a refusal by the General Intelligence officers who are reluctant to grant such permits, due to their fear that this group may carry out espionage acts that harm the country’s security, according to what the source told “218News”.
