Al-Sarraj agrees with Siemens on “urgent plan” for better electricity services in Libya

The Head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord agreed with the German company, Siemens, to expedite the implementation of the largest number of overhauls and maintenance of units operating on the public electricity network during the autumn season.

This came during a meeting held by the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, through “video conference”, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Siemens, “Christian Broch,” and a number of the company’s directors, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company, Wiam Al-Abdali, and General Manager, Ibrahim Al-Falah, as well as the energy advisor, Mohamed Machina.

The Head of the Presidential Council discussed with the “Siemens” company an urgent plan to overcome the problem of electricity during the height of the summer, and “Al-Sarraj” proposed three elements to achieve this. The first of which is “developing and implementing a training program to form teams of Libyan engineers licensed by Siemens in maintenance and overhaul work.”

Al-Sarraj also suggested setting up a mechanism by which emergency technical requirements could be provided “in terms of services and spare parts,” without being subject to routine and traditional procedures.

The third of these elements was to provide technical support to the mechanical and electrical engineering departments of the University of Tripoli.
