US urges Turkey and Russia to withdraw forces from Libya

The representative of the United States in the Security Council, Richard Mills, affirmed that the Libyan parties should seize the opportunity to choose a temporary executive authority, noting that the Security Council and the international community must verify that Libya is moving forward without hindrance to holding elections next December.

The representative of the United States in the Security Council called on Turkey and Russia to withdraw their forces and remove the mercenaries from Libya immediately.

Mills’ statements came during his speech at the Security Council hearing Thursday, to a briefing presented by the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya, Stephanie Williams, during which she addressed the most prominent political and security events, calling on the Security Council to support the unified government and issue a resolution dissolving all executive bodies.
