Al-Habri submits resignation over lack of funding and security

The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya in Benghazi, Ali al-Habri, on Tuesday submitted his resignation to the Speaker of Parliament, Agila Saleh, due to the difficulty in providing financing and the absence of security protection for the bank and its workers, while a source confirmed to “218News” that Aqila Saleh refused to accept the resignation.

Al-Habri’s resignation request comes a few hours after a large group of wounded National Army fighters in Benghazi surrounded the Central headquarters to demand attention in the file of the wounded, while Al-Habri met with a number of them before the protesters dispersed.

In the letter of resignation, Al-Habri said, “The Central Bank of Libya has, since 2014, provided everything legally possible to provide the capabilities within the available limits, so that there is a balance as much as possible between the economic conditions in the country and the limited and almost non-existent financing possibilities.”
