El-Sisi and Macron stress need to remove mercenaries from Libya

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed in a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron a number of regional and international issues, including developments in the Libyan file.

According to the Egyptian presidency spokesman, the two sides reviewed the existing efforts to support the new executive authority and push for the paths to settle the Libyan issue militarily, politically and economically.

El-Sisi reiterated the need to remove the mercenaries from Libya and stop the illegal foreign interference that contributes to fueling the crisis, in order to reach the holding of elections next December.

For his part, the French President praised Egypt’s role in promoting the Libyan political track, stressing France’s keenness to continue cooperation and coordination between the two countries in this important file.
