On Friday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Italian Luigi Di Maio affirmed Washington and Rome’s support for a sustainable solution to the Libyan crisis.
In a joint article published in La Repubblica newspaper, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Rome and Washington, the two ministers expressed their countries’ support for the stability of the Mediterranean region, according to the Italian news agency AKI.
The article stated: “Stability in the expanded Mediterranean region, which extends from Afghanistan to the Sahel region, is a priority goal for our cooperation .. We support the Libyan people and Libyan institutions on their path towards free and fair elections and towards a sustainable political solution to the crisis, within the framework of the United Nations.
