LPDF’s Legal Committee agrees on constitutional basis for elections

The Legal Committee announced at the Political Dialogue Forum, on Friday evening, the completion of the constitutional basis necessary to hold elections on December 24th.

The committee said in a statement that it would submit the constitutional rule attached to its report to the forum at the earliest time for consideration.

A source told “218News” that the committee did not agree on how to elect the president of Libya (directly or indirectly), and therefore the committee decided to refer this matter to the forum with all its members to take the appropriate decision that meets the aspirations of Libyans.

It also recommended that the newly elected parliament form a technical committee that reconsiders the draft constitution and finds the necessary solutions to all objections to it.
