Pentagon: Russian intervention in Libya worries the US

A spokeswoman for the Pentagon, Naval Commander Jessica McNulty, described the Russian intervention in Libya as causing concern to the United States, referring to the “Wagner mercenaries” owned by “Yevgeny Prigozhin”, a close associate of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.

“The destabilizing Russian intervention in the Libya conflict causes special concern to the United States as it is for NATO and European interests in the Mediterranean,” she said.

The spokeswoman for the US Department of Defense stressed: “The United States opposes all foreign military activities in Libya, and strongly supports the implementation of the ceasefire announced on October 23, 2020, including the Libyan agreement on the immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries.”
