US ambassador to Libya says ready for LPDF meeting

The US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, expressed his readiness for the meeting of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum on May 26-27.

The US embassy in Libya stated that it is communicating with a wide range of participants to discuss the historical responsibility they bear to advance the political process by reaching consensus on a constitutional basis for the December 24 elections in a timely manner.

The US embassy added that the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum plays an essential role, especially in the event that the House of Representatives is unable to adopt the recommendations it receives from the forum.

The US ambassador to Libya indicated that he had met Ziyad Daghim and Abdel Majid Malika, as the US special envoy to Libya.

Earlier, Norland met with Belkassem Nimer and Lamis bin Saad, to express Washington’s hope that all members of the forum would reach consensus on behalf of the Libyan people.
