Biden, Al-Sisi reiterate need for Libya to hold elections in December

The US President Joe Biden discussed, during a phone call with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the latest developments in the Libyan issue.

A spokesman for the Egyptian presidency said in a statement that Biden and Al-Sisi agreed on “the importance of working to restore the balance and stability of the Libyan state and preserve its national institutions.”

The statement indicated that Biden and Al-Sisi stressed the importance for Libya to hold elections at the end of this year.

According to the spokesman, “The US President praised the tireless Egyptian efforts towards the Libyan issue, which strengthened the course of the political process in Libya.”
