Jamal bin Amer: Libyan pilot who sacrificed himself to protect others

Brigadier General Jamal bin Amer died, Saturday, after his fighter jet crashed during a military parade held by the Libyan National Army at the Benina base.

Eyewitnesses reported that Jamal bin Amer sacrificed himself so that his plane would not fall in the midst of of the armed forces’ ceremony, and led his fighter jet away from the crowds until it fell outside the celebration square.

The General Command of the Libyan National Army mourned bin Amer, and said in a statement that he lost his life on Saturday as a result of the crash of his plane during the military parade at the Benina military base.
