218News reveals details of Libya-Italy agreements in Rome

A source revealed to 218 that the details of the understandings that took place between the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, during their meeting at the Keji Palace.


Dabaiba and Draghi agreed to enhance cooperation in the health field, starting with treating children with cancer.


With regard to the reconstruction file, the two parties agreed to implement the highway project, which links the Tunisian and Egyptian borders.


During their talks, Dabaiba and Draghi stressed the development of cooperation in the field of energy, and the beginning will be cooperation in the field of renewable energy, whether green energy from hydrogen and solar energy.

The understandings include a plan to form a “Libyan-Italian” partnership to export electric energy to Europe and the world.


The talks witnessed a consensus that migration is a regional crisis, and requires a full European contribution to end this file, with Italy to stand by Libya, both in monitoring the southern borders and supporting, strengthening and training the beach guards.


The source revealed an upcoming visit by the Libyan Minister of Justice to Rome to sign a prisoner exchange agreement between the two countries, and the visit is expected to take place at the end of the week.
