Akar says Turkish forces in Libya aren’t a foreign power

Referring to Turkey’s refusal to remove its forces and mercenaries from Libya, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar considered that his country “is not a foreign power in Libya, and it is striving to make Libya safe and stable, led by the Libyans themselves.”

Akar said, in statements from Tripoli, Saturday, that “Turkey will continue to stand by its Libyan brothers with whom it has a historic brotherly relationship for 500 years.”

He added, “Turkey, whose influence and interests have expanded under President Erdogan, has assumed and continues to assume important responsibilities for regional and global peace and stability.”

Akar arrived in Tripoli, on Friday, at the head of a high-ranking Turkish delegation, and she was received by him, as soon as he landed at the Mitiga base; Turkish military figures, and transported him in a car bearing the Turkish flag to the military operations headquarters established by Turkey in Tripoli.
