Biden unveils US priorities in Libya, hopes to see Russia’s cooperation

The US President, Joe Biden, confirmed that his country can cooperate with Russia in Libya, stressing the need to “open corridors to deliver aid to people in need.”

Biden told reporters at the conclusion of the G7 summit in Britain: “Russia is present in Libya and Syria and has a role there, but it cannot come up with a system that meets the economic needs of countries.”

Biden expressed his hope to reach settlements with Russia that would allow the United States to “save the lives of individuals in Libya,” considering that this step would be in everyone’s interest.

The US President pointed out that Russia “has engaged in activities that contradict international standards, and it has its own internal problems, and the reconstruction of Syria and Libya.”

“We are in competition, not with China itself, (but) with autocracies and authoritarian governments around the world over whether or not democracies can compete with them in the rapidly changing 21st century,” Biden said.
