Meeting with Foreign Minister, Al-Sisi reiterates Egypt’s full support for Libya

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s full support for the Presidential Council and the Libyan National Unity Government during the transitional phase and the current political track.

During his meeting with Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush, Al-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full support for Libya during the transitional period with the aim of restoring Libya’s security and stability, leading to holding national elections on their scheduled date next December.

The Egyptian president added that the Egyptian support for Libya comes because it represents an extension of Egyptian national security.

Al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm position based on preserving the territorial integrity of Libya, preserving the capabilities of the brotherly Libyan people, and non-interference in Libya’s internal affairs.

The Egyptian president praised the efforts made by the Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, to restore the status and prestige of the Libyan diplomatic work, and to move with all international parties concerned with the Libyan issue, stressing that restoring Libya’s sovereignty begins with the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries, stressing Egypt’s full support for these efforts during all Its actions at the bilateral, regional and international levels.

For her part, Al-Mangoush expressed her happiness at meeting President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, conveying to him the greetings of the Libyan government and Presidential Council leaders, stressing the appreciation and pride of the Libyan government for the leading Egyptian role in the region within the framework of the wise leadership and the tireless efforts of Egypt to support Libya.

She also praised the Egyptian support in activating and supporting efforts to settle the Libyan crisis in various political, military and economic tracks, in light of the historical considerations and ties between the two brotherly countries, and then full awareness of the Libyan status quo, expressing her appreciation to Egypt, the leadership, government and people, for standing by the Libyans in managing the transitional phase, and looking forward to the continuation of that support during the coming period, in addition to strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries, especially at the security level, in addition to raising the level of mutual diplomatic representation.
