Dbeibah complains to Libyans about pandemic and delayed budget

The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, accused the House of Representatives of deliberately disrupting the public budget, saying that the reasons for the delay set by the parliament are flimsy and unrealistic.

Dabaiba added, in a speech broadcast by the government, on Friday evening, that the House of Representatives requested adding some benefits to the budget and is responsible for the increase, calling on the parliament to provide a technical evaluation explaining the reasons it relied on describing the budget as “too much.”

The Prime Minister indicated to him informing the House of Representatives of his inability to face the various problems of the people, due to the delay in adopting the budget, indicating that the delay also contributed to the continuation of the electricity crisis during the past months.

In his speech, Dabaiba added that his government was able to raise the salaries of basic pensioners by 100%, explaining that he had informed a segment of retirees to resolve their various demands if the budget was available.

Dabaiba talked about the salaries of workers in various government agencies, saying that he followed up on the salary file, and found a large financial disparity in the level of workers’ income, indicating that the government is working to end this.

Dabaiba touched on the development item and his quest to restore life to Libya’s stalled projects, as he put it, calling for support for development, for which nearly 26% of the government’s budget was allocated.

Speaking about the Coronavirus pandemic file, Dabaiba confirmed the government’s pledge to continue vaccination campaigns after vaccinating more than a million citizens, noting that his government had achieved success in the Coronavirus vaccine file, while denying the existence of financial embezzlement in the file of supplying vaccines to Libya.

He added, “There are countries – he did not name – that provided us with large quantities of Coronavirus vaccines, and others paid the costs of supplying vaccines to the country.”

Dabaiba continued his speech, talking about the upcoming elections, stressing that all capabilities had been harnessed and the government’s determination to hold the elections on schedule.
