Government meeting for the two sides of Libya’s oil industry

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity called on Oil and Gas Minister Mohamed Oun, his Undersecretary for Production Affairs, Rifaat Al-Abbar, in addition to the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, “preservedly suspended” from work, Mustafa Sanalla, to hold a joint meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office next Sunday.

The invitation, which was published on the official Hakomatna “Our Government” platform on Facebook, attributed the reason for the meeting to follow up the workflow of the Ministry of Oil and its affiliated institutions, and to identify the problems it faces.

An invitation that observers see as a government attempt to put an end to the sharp dispute that arose between the Ministry of Oil and Gas on the one hand, and the head of the National Oil Corporation on the other, which prompted the latter to reject a ministerial decision to suspend him and refer him to an investigation committee.

It is noteworthy that the prime minister did not respond to a message issued by the Minister of Oil and Gas earlier, to restructure the oil corporation amid efforts to develop infrastructure and raise production.
