France, UN coordinate to support Libya’s December elections

France renewed its support for holding the legislative and presidential elections on December 24, as expressed in the road map of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.

This came in a statement by the French Foreign Ministry calling on all Libyan leaders to assume their responsibilities in implementing this process, without delay, and stressing its close coordination with its partners, as well as the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jan Kubis.

It is worth noting that the French embassy in Libya threatened to impose European sanctions on what it called “political officials obstructing the road map.”
