Erdogan renews importance of Turkish forces’ presence in Libya

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed Turkey’s position in support of the electoral process in Libya, and that Turkey, with its presence in Libya, came for the purpose of training and consulting for the legitimate security forces at the request of Libya and on the basis of bilateral agreements – as he described it.

Erdogan made this position in a telephone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who, for his part, invited Erdogan to participate in the Leaders Summit of the Group of 20 to be held in Rome next October.

It is noteworthy that Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and a number of his government ministers and Turkish officials have repeatedly stressed since the arrival of the Libyan National Unity Government and the Presidential Council to power the Turkish military presence and the continuation of the effectiveness of the agreements concluded by Turkey with the Sarraj government.
