Lamamra: Algeria deals neutrally with Libya’s crisis, December elections ensure democracy

In light of the recent political developments in Libya, the Algerian Foreign Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, said his country deals neutrally with the parties in Libya, and does not support any party, except the Libyan people.

Lamamra asserted, in statements on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, that Algeria had succeeded in convincing Libya’s neighboring countries of the priority of the departure of mercenaries and terrorists from the country, without causing disturbances in the region, noting that the meeting organized by his country recently was successful in this regard, without destabilizing the region.

The Algerian Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s support for Libya, government and people, with a focus on efforts to organize legislative and presidential elections, in order to guarantee democracy and restore Libya’s status as a major player in the region.
