Egypt renews support for Libya’s political process and December elections

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed his country’s support for the Libyan political process and efforts to hold elections on their date on December 24.

Shoukry stressed, during a statement to an Egyptian government channel, the necessity of the exit of mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya, and the dismantling of armed formations; a a prelude to the formation of an elected government, the will of the Libyan people appears in accordance with the road map reviewed by the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, in his speech at the United Nations Assembly.

It is noteworthy that Egypt has restored its diplomatic relations with Tripoli amid a remarkable momentum in the relationship between the two countries.
