Libyan Foreign Ministry cancels announcement on dual citizens

The Libyan embassy in the British capital, London, announced the cancellation of the circular issued by the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the non-disclosure of applications for obtaining a passport, for those who obtained refugee status, or acquired the citizenship of another country by their choice.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry had issued a circular on October 13, not to decide on applications for obtaining a Libyan passport for state nationals who obtained refugee status in the country of expatriation, or who acquired the nationality of another country by their own choice.

It is noteworthy that Libyan law prohibits citizens from acquiring the nationality of another country, and the condition of not having dual nationality is one of the conditions for assuming public office in the country.
