Al-Mahjoub: 5+5 JMC talks with Turkey were positive and encouraging

The Director of the Moral Guidance Department of the National Army, Major General Khaled Al-Mahjoub, described the talks of the “5 + 5” joint military commission with the Turkish side as “positive and encouraging,” indicating that it corresponds to the current stage of the Libyan reality.

In a post on Facebook, Al-Mahjoub welcomed Ankara’s interest and keenness on the stability of Libya and acceptance of the election results, regardless of who won the presidential race, as long as it would be the will of the Libyan people.

The Director of the Moral Guidance Department indicated that the commission’s talks resulted in an agreement for Turkey’s cooperation to build distinguished relations in which Libya’s sovereignty, independence and unity are respected, with the desire to work on coordination to start direct flights between Turkey and Benghazi, in addition to boosting trade and economic cooperation.

It is noteworthy that the “5+5” Joint Military Commission held a meeting in Ankara on the second of this December, during which it demanded the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries affiliated with Turkey from Libya, and Turkey welcomed this step, provided that it takes place simultaneously with the withdrawal of various foreign powers.
