Libya, Malta review security cooperation in joint maritime area

The General Directorate of Coastal Security discussed with the Maltese Minister of Interior’s Advisor for Illegal Immigration, Ryan Spencer, areas of maritime security cooperation between Libya and Malta.

The administration explained that the meeting, which was represented by the Libyan side, Adviser to the Director of Maritime Affairs, Khaled Buhaih, and the head of the administration branch in Tripoli, Ibrahim Al-Saqli, took place under the directives of the Minister of Interior Khaled Mazen, and comes within the framework of seeking to raise the pace of Libyan-Maltese cooperation. The two sides touched on topics related to joint training.

It is worth noting that the Maltese media reported that the UN Sanctions Committee listed Maltese figures involved in smuggling Libyan fuel, in addition to the growing illegal immigration activity in the maritime area of the two countries.
