After calls for legal actions against it, Nexa Technologies denies selling surveillance systems to Libya

The European company “Nexa Technologies” denied accusations of Democratic lawmakers of selling surveillance and espionage systems for Libya, stressing that the company “was not involved in any contract in Libya.”

The denial of “Nexa Technologies” to the American TV channel “CNN” comes after more than a dozen Democratic lawmakers submitted a request to the Biden administration calling for the punishment of four electronic surveillance companies because of accusations of supporting authoritarian regimes in human rights violations by selling them powerful surveillance systems.

The lawmakers, led by Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff of California, accused Israel’s NSO Group, UAE cybersecurity firm DarkMatter, European watchdog firms Nexa Technologies and Trovicor, as well as top executives at those companies, of selling sophisticated systems for spying and surveillance used by repressive states against their opponents.
