Deterrence Apparatus denies affiliation with Brigade 444

The Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Deterrence Apparatus denied any association with Brigade 444 of the Tripoli Military District, or any other entities, stressing that the apparatus is working independently.

The apparatus confirmed, in a statement, that isn’t affiliated with what it called “unfortunate frictions,” in reference to the security tension between Brigade 444 and other armed formations inside the capital, pointing out that those who “claim affiliation wirh the apparatus or speak on behalf of the apparatus represent only themselves, and that the apparatus does not represent them.”

The statement added that the work of the apparatus in combating crime and terrorism does not exclude any part of the Libyan soil, and that this is what all security and police services must unite around to eradicate crime of all kinds.

It is worth noting that the city of Tripoli witnessed escalating security tensions following the decision of the Presidential Council to appoint Major General Abdelkader Mansour as commander of the Tripoli Military District to succeed the dismissed Major General Abdel Basset Marwan, which angered some armed formations.
