Williams meets with Presidential Council members and reiterates support for reconciliation

The Libyan Presidential Council stressed the importance of commitment to the outcomes of the Libyan political dialogue forum, and the success of national reconciliation among Libyans, in preparation for holding elections.

These remarks came in a meeting for the Head  of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, and his two deputies, Mossa Al-Koni, and Abdullah Al-Lafi on Monday, with the Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Libyan Affairs, Stephanie Williams, to discuss the latest developments in the political process in Libya, according to a statement by the Presidential Council.

Williams renewed the commitment of the United Nations to provide all necessary support to the Libyan people and the concerned authorities in achieving the important goals related to addressing the current challenges, and initiating a comprehensive national reconciliation process.

It is worth noting that the UN Adviser, Stephanie Williams, has intensified her diplomatic meetings with the Libyan parties to push forth the political process and efforts to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.
